Despite Dwyane Wade matching a career-high with 48 points, the Magic gutted out a tough 121-114 victory over a frisky Heat team eager to prove it's better than its record suggests. Here's the boxscore.

Based on the bit of the game that I took in, we really had no business winning. The Heat shot 55% in the first half and lead by as many as 10 points. The Magic seemed content to jack up jump-shots, it didn't appear as though they were particularly interested in hustling for loose balls.

Unfortunately, an emergency phone call took me away from the game's final 8 minutes, which is to say I missed the final 3 minutes of regulation and all of overtime. Based on the MagicMadness game thread, Carlos Arroyo and Hedo Turkoglu made some big shots. There's even talk of demoting Jameer Nelson to the bench, and for once, the Arroyo-backers may have a point. Carlos shot poorly -- just 4-of-11 for 13 points -- but also added 7 rebounds and 5 assists. He played starters' minutes (30) while Nelson tallied just 20. We'll indeed see if there's a lineup change tomorrow night against Charlotte.

More on tonight's game:

John Denton (Florida Today) hasn't filed his report yet, but I'll update this post when he does.

Arroyo

... he sealed it tonight. I would be shocked if he didn't become the starting PG after tonight. His stats are somewhat deceiving but he came up huge in the final minutes of the 4th quarter to really help us steal a victory away from Miami.

I think Arroyo finally displayed play at PG that SVG has been wanting.

Re: Arroyo

I'm surprised Denton or Schmitz haven't posted an announcement about the lineup change. If Jameer starts tonight, I'll be very surprised.
